Edible Pumpkin Pie Play Dough

This is our second addition to our Fall Full Series. In this series so far is Vanilla Cinnamon Oobleck. Make sure to check back frequently for more fall fun activities!

Edible Pumpkin Pie Play Dough is fun for all ages! I recommend this activity for children six-months and older. Since it is edible you don’t have to worry about your baby injesting anything toxic.

  3. 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  4. 1 cup of flour

Invitation to Play

After I made my Pumpkin Pie Play Dough I stored it in the refrigerator. When I was ready to let my kids play with it I allowed it to thaw in a baggy for a couple hours. I decided to set up the play dough with plastic utensils, popsicle sticks, cinnamon, and Honey Nut Cheerios.

First thing they went for was the cinnamon. I have to admit they ignored the play dough for awhile after while they munched on some Cheerios.  DSC_0147

I decided to show them that they could stick the popsicle sticks into the play dough. They seemed to like that.

Pushing Cheerios into the dough added a fine motor component to their play.

They started to get antsy and were saying “all done” so I showed them that they could take their dough and make balls. They weren’t able to do it on their own at 22-months-old so I made the balls for them and they spent a good 15-20 minutes playing with the little dough balls.

My daughter actually tasted one of them. She gave it a little taste and said “Mmm!” while shaking her head up and down.

Have fun with this tasty fun activity. I hope that your children enjoy it as mine did!

What a great idea! How long does this recipe usually last? I’m thinking about making it for the “treat” for my daughter’s preschool Halloween party. Wondering if I could make it in advance and freeze or refrigerate it.

I would suggest refrigerating it for up to 3 days.. We did! Just let it thaw out for an hour or so before hand.
